Susan worked at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for over ten years, specializing in ocean policy, and for several years at Boston University in the same role. She founded and was President of Ecological Engineering Associates (EEA), a company that uses natural systems for wastewater treatment, from which she retired in 1998 to do full-time consulting.

8.21-24.08 Singin in the Train

WHAT: Come lend your voice to “Singin’ in the Train,” a cross-country singing adventure to amplify the call to revamp and re-imagine greener options for moving from point “A” to point “B the change you want to see” in our communities.

WHO: YOU! All voices are welcome to join in on boldly energizing sing-alongs of familiar songs, improvised words and music, and creative conversations about how to become bolder in practicing being the changes we want to see.

The singing circles will be co-lead by Rachel Bagby, who will also be leading a workshop at Bioneers by the Bay, and Joey Blake. Rachel Bagby is founder of Choral Earth, alum soprano of Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra and 2008 winner of the prestigious Art and Healing Network Award; Joey Blake, Professor of Voice at Berklee College of Music, Voicestra bass extraordinaire, and generous friends.

WHERE: From Singing Farm in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, to Boston and onward to the DNC host-city: Denver CO.

WHEN: Rachel is riding the Crescent from Charlottesville to Boston on Aug 21st at 7:20am. She’ll rendez-vous with folks in Boston on Aug 23rd. Join them or sing them off at 11:30am at the South Boston Station. They’ll leave on the 12pm 449 Lake Shore Limited. See Amtrak for route details.

They’ll have a major stop in Albany, NY on August 23 and another one before we board the California Zephyr in Chicago, IL on August 24th.

Enjoy the ride for as little or as long as you like. Steep in days of singing and learning about alternative energy and creative ways to practice being the communities of change we long to see. Or just hop the train for a 47 minute leg of our journey to enjoy a sonorous lunch break.

HOW: Check out www.SingYourPart.com for details or join the facebook group.
Can’t join us in the train? No problem. Below is a list of ways you can help get things moving:

• Join in our logo design contest: we’re looking for a simple and easily replicable design (think blackberry juice on recycled cardboard)

• Jump on with us for however long – and video the journey.

• Help spread the word – tell your friends to check out “Singin’ in the Train”

• Contribute info to “Singin’ in the Train”’s group at www.SingYourPart.com – this is an
educational adventure and we’d love your help developing our messaging and identifying important information to share.

• Organize a Singin’ Circle from your town to Denver or a shorter distance

• Bring together welcoming singers in Boston, Albany, Chicago Cleveland, and/or Denver (or any of the other stops along the way).

9.27.08 Green for All Day of Action

On Saturday, September 27th, 2008, one day after the first Presidential Debate of the most important election in our lifetime, join Green For All, 1Sky, and tens of thousands of Americans for: Green Jobs Now! A Day to Build the New Economy.

From the streets of Los Angeles to the hills of Appalachia, people from all walks of life will organize events large and small to demonstrate to Congress, to the next President, and to the nation that we are ready to build an inclusive green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty and solve the climate crisis.

It is a simple message: "I'm ready to build the green economy."

Yet it is profound.

It is an "at-risk" youth saying, "I'm ready to be trained in solar panel installation." It is an entrepreneur saying, "I'm ready to green my business." It is a college activist saying, "I'm ready to stand up for working families AND the environment."

It is tens of thousands of ordinary Americans asserting the extraordinary: we are ready for an economy that is good for people, and the planet.

We are ready for Green Jobs Now!

9.27.08… Get Ready.
